The final at the Nokia Brier goes today in Halifax. Hometown boy Mark Dacey faces Randy Ferbey of Alberta.Ferbey will try to run the table and finish the competition at 13-0. Nova Scotia went thru the round robin 7-4 and has reeled off two wins over past champions to get to this point.
Unfortunately I haven't been on board for Dacey's last two victories and it has damaged my bankroll. My record stands at 20-15 and +7.01 units.
Dacey was able to knock Pat Ryan's BC rink out yesterday primarily due to the erratic play of BC vice Bob Ursel. They play a team today with absolutely no weaknesses. Randy Ferbey has tremendous experience and solid shotmaking ability.Randy calls the game but lets incredible shotmaker David Nedohin throw last rocks for the team.
Oddsmakers have installed Alberta as -300 moneyline favourite. So ask yourself this question- if these teams played 100 times would Alberta win 75 times. I think they would. TAKE ALBERTA ---don't sweat the chalk.
Alberta -300 2units to win .666 units.
Too bad this wasn't baseball---I would take Alberta -1.5. Oh well maybe the in future curling have "rock lines".
I'll be back later for a recap.
